Crossword Answers and thoughts

Okay, so the 15 bands revealed in the crossword were as follows:
White Stripes
Bjork
Peter, Bjorn and John
Joss Stone
Rodrigo Y Gabriela
Decemberists
Rose Hill Drive
Andrew Bird
Augustana
Robert Earl Keen
Beau Soleil
Gotan Project
Indigo Girls
Heartless Bastards
Andy Palacio

This is good news, as all of them were on "the list" posted down below.
Does that mean the list is 100% accurate? Probably not, but it does add to it's validity.

Peter Bjorn and John can suck it - they were terrible at SXSW. That fool can't even whistle, or remember the words to his songs.

Anonymous said...

i hope the black keys come.....and play with the white stripes....it would make too much sense, my mind would explode.

Anonymous said...

my mom's brother's uncle has a friend who's crack dealer says the jesus and mary chain are playing.

BJORk,BJORk,BJORk,BJORk,BJORk!!!!!

Anonymous said...

i agree, the sooner the world realizes how untalented peter, bjorn, and john are in person, the better. they were easily the worst hyped act at sxsw. but i guess if you have one bjor- then you could always use another...

Sucks, sucks, sucks!!!

anyone have any hunches on the big names if they aren't Neil Young, Stevie or Dylan? esp. if they are bigger than Radiohead and The Stones

maybe Springsteen?

there is no one on "the list" that is "bigger" than stones or radiohead if you take off the three listed above...

Anonymous said...

not bigger . . . he said better.

As long as isnt that bum sufjan stevens, i'll be happy.

Anonymous said...

U2?

Anonymous said...

damn I wish they would have put at least one of the headliners in the puzzle now we still have to wait. but, so far to me the lineup is looking a lot like last year's to me.... that sucks..

Anonymous said...

I think the possibilities for headliners are ...

-U2
-Paul McCartney
-Stevie Wonder
-Bob Dylan
-The Who

I also know that Paolo Nutini and The Steps (a local teen band) are gonna play.

Anonymous said...

I have it on good authority that one of the headliners is the original Soundgarden (i.e., Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, etc.)

BJORK WILL BE A HEADLINER DUECES!

BJORK IS TERRIBLE.

LOOK ON THE BRIGHTSIDE...

YOU CAN GET OUT EARLY TO DRINK ON 6TH AND CATCH AN AFTERSHOW...

Trapper Jack said...

Bjork as a key headliner (ie Radiohead or Tom Petty) would be a waste of a valuable time slot/stage. Any word on Scissor Sisters (not as a headliner, of course)?

Anonymous said...

This looks great. With so many Bjork haters I'll be able to find a spot in the front row.

Anonymous said...

i don't know if that's something to brag about unless you like giant swans and vocals from an icelandic vampire

Anonymous said...

let me guess...you guys were hoping for a Phish renunion as a headliner? Get your hacky sacks, your dread locks, and your tie die shirts and go to Bonaroo you stinky hippies.

Anonymous said...

yeah it looks like the jam band fans took over this thread look at Coachella Bjork was one of the biggest headliners...just sayin

Anonymous said...

yeah, bonnaroo is a real fucking hippie festival with the police, tool, and the white stripes playing. you're such an idiot

bjork is just a musician that divides people...and it's becoming obvious that more ACL fans don't want to see her than do.

Anonymous said...

it has?

Anonymous said...

The Who has already said they won't be playing ACL. Whoever above said Springstein might be there, I can definitely see that. Fuck, it's going to be amazing. And that's a huge disappointment to read that PB&J suck live.

Anonymous said...

im still putting my money down on primus closing sunday AND playing an aftershow right after, having the audience follow the band to the parish

Chaplin Ate My Shoe said...

People, people, people...Bjork would be a co-headliner akin to Van Morrison or Massive Attack last year. If you didn't like those acts, you could always check out John Mayer or Willie Nelson and then take off a half an hour early. That's the good thing about the format they use at ACL.

They will no doubt set Bjork up against someone whose close to a polar opposite because they know there are enough people who want to see Bjork. And on top of that, bringing in Bjork ups the prestige of the festival which is something ACL could frankly use.

Anonymous said...

There's a lot of anger from the Bjork fans. Some are of the opinion that there's clearly no problem with any type of artist playing at ACL, but Bjork OR Phish does not merrit the equivilent time slot or stage as someone like Tom Petty, REM or Radiohead. It'll be noteworthy from the way they are making it sound.

Anonymous said...

I'd fuck Bjork in the asshole and then make her lick my shit stained balls.

Anonymous said...

From the man Charles Attal himself, headliners for this years Austin City Limits Music Festival are as follows:

Friday - Creed (Official Reunion)
Saturday - Nunwhore Commando 666
Sunday - Celine Dion featuring CGI Elvis and the American Idol backup singers

Anonymous said...

It was so great last year when everyone was watching Willie Nelson and I was able to get a prime spot for Massive Attack.

Anonymous said...

i almost died when i read that creed and some other assholes possibly being the headliner. the tears were starting to well. Then reality kicked in. Thank God.

Anonymous said...

PB&J did suck a big one at sxsw. i was sorely disapointed. all i know is that the rumored The Good the bad and queen had better go. wouldnt it be nice if beck or the strokes were to go.

Anonymous said...

I went to the Blonde Redhead show tonight at Stubbs, but it was rained out and cancelled. As the staff was delivering the bad news to the audience, he also said that they would be back for ACL. Just an interesting tidbit, believe it or not.

Anonymous said...

Anybody possibly think that this crossword was made using 15 artists that are on both the official line-up and the alleged leaked line-up just to throw us all off. Their is a good chance that the person who made up the leaked list would get at least 20 or 30 (or maybe even 50-60) artists correctly. If I was working for CSE and was reading the leaked list, I would try to fuck with people like that. I bet we get hit in the face with 50-60 acts that we didn't expect.

Anonymous said...

Bjork...Bjorn...who else wants Bjruce Springsteen to headline??!

Anonymous said...

I love giant swans and vocals from an icelandic vampire

Anonymous said...

50 60 acts we didnt expect? it is honestly not hard to predict acts, you just look at who is releasing albums, who generally plays festivals, and who is due for a tour. only a limited amount of bands fit into the right all three of those categories for ACL so i don't think there are 50-60 acts left, at least none that would be of great signifigance (with the exception of this mystery sunday headliner)

Unknown said...

Bjork isnt that bad in small doses. Im more jazzed about Arcade Fire though

Anonymous said...

Is Arcade Fire confirmed?

Anonymous said...

God I love those bands and God I hate being so fucking poor. It's like - I could buy tickets to ACL or I could eat for two weeks. This sucks.

Jasun said...

no confirm on arcade fire yet.

Anonymous said...

^^ buy the ticket, food is overrated

Anonymous said...

I'm I the only one that doesn't see Arcade Fire as headline material?

They can't even come close to selling an arena out?

Juan said...

what is with all this unfettered vitriol hiding behind anonymous posting?

if you're going to say something vile and stupid, don't be a coward about it. i don't know why i ever bother going into any site's comments page. figured blogger would be civil, but what is see here approaches youtube-level puerility

Anonymous said...

Hey Juan, you can join in licking my shit stained balls after I fuck your fat deformed mother up the ass. Faggot.

Anonymous said...

^ Sounds like someone didn't get hugged enough as a child.

Anonymous said...

Bjork as a headliner???? Wow!!!! I'm so glad I got tickets!!!!

Anonymous said...

Well, I'll admit that at least the festival is being possibly headlined by artists more relevant to today's music, and not artists that are older than my house. They may have been good back then, but most of them are just cheesy now.

Anonymous said...

Bjork haters... eat a dick. you think Springsteen or fucking Stevie Wonder would be a better show? Have you seen Bjork? Better yet, dont go... leave the space for people with taste.

Anonymous said...

Yea sure, I'll gladly leave space for the 100 of you that show up of which 49 that walk away after she starts singing. It's basically throwing away money that could be spent getting two more solid mid-tier bands for the sake of being musically diverse.

Anonymous said...

Could a Bjork fan please tell me what her 3 best songs are?

I'd like to investigate.

Everything I've heard sounds like complete shit. She looks and sounds like a self indulgent cunt.

Anonymous said...

Every single person so far that I've heard say that they WANT to see Bjork hasn't even listened to her music. They just want to see her to say that they've seen her. What a bunch of fucking bullshit. Give me some people that play good music, not a god damn hipster novelty act.

Anonymous said...

in response to the inbred douche balloon that said this statement:
"Every single person so far that I've heard say that they WANT to see Bjork hasn't even listened to her music."

you are sadly mistaken. stop making idiotic generalizations. if you had a life and if you weren't so inbred, try listening to some of her songs. i recommend "more to life than this", "hunter", "isobelle", and "army of me". i'm looking forward to seeing her perform again (saw her at coachella).

i think most of you people complaining about bjork adhere to the following statistics:
1) you are married
2) you are somewhere between 38 and 45 years of age
3) you wear clothes from the dad's section of kohl's
4) you like jam bands and shit like robert earl keen

am i right or am i right?

old people...please stay the fuck out of ACL. if you can't stay away, then at least shut the fuck up and find solace in your golden oldies records.

Anonymous said...

agreed

Anonymous said...

Paolo Nutini Would be great to see.

Anonymous said...

"Bjork haters... eat a dick. you think Springsteen or fucking Stevie Wonder would be a better show? Have you seen Bjork? Better yet, dont go... leave the space for people with taste"

Rude much?
Don't be an ass.
I think Stevie Wonder would be wonderful.

Anonymous said...

The great thing is that when the ACL comes around, all the haters won't really have any impact on whether or not you enjoy the festival.

Since forums exist to allow people to whine about things. There is always going to be somebody to bitch about something, whether it is Bjork, Stevie Wonder, lack of Radiohead, the audacity of acts like Van Morrison headlining last year, ACL compared to other festivals, too may/too few jam bands, hipster bands, old people, young people, or in general, unless ACL fits what you personally want, it must suck and everybody who thinks otherwise is a moron with no taste. Since, first and foremost, Charles Attal needs to please your happy ass.

ACL will still be sold out, it will still be a great time, still be a value. It was not that long ago that the big summer festival in Austin was Aquafest.

Anonymous said...

ok for real though with all this concern for bjork who really isn't that bad... can we please talk about why the indigo girls are going to be there i'm sorry I'm all for girl rock bands but the indigo is just a little to far left for me if you know what i'm sayin.... where's the Amy Winehouse etc... the new upcoming people isn't that what this festival is all about the up and coming artist too... not just old lets say has beens...

Anonymous said...

In a cyberworld full of ridiculous message boards, this has got to be the worst. Luckily it seems like 4 or 5 idiots on this board will be a blip on the radar compared to the tens of thousands that will enjoy ACL Fest, as most have every year. And, by the way, it is possible to want to see both Bjork and "oldies" acts like Dylan & Neil Young. Any of these would be amazing to me.

"Every one I know hates everyone I hate and no one wants to see who I don't want to see! Waaah!" How old are you people, really?

Oh, and my three Bjork songs are Hyper-Ballad, Bachelorette, and Hidden Place. If these don't hook you, I really don't know what to tell you.

Anonymous said...

God. Bjork as a headliner would blow. She headlined at Coachella last week and it was hilarious to watch "fans" run from her as her set progressed. I thought I was a Bjork fan and had been excited about seeing her.. until I fell asleep in the grass at the beginning of her set due to boredom. It's fair to say that at least half of the people "watching" her were asleep. Triumph!

The Arcade Fire, on the other hand, completely made Coachella. They were a huge success, the crowd was massive and fully engaged in their set and I don't see any reason for an ACL appearance not to have a similar turn out. (Granted, .. most of the Coachella crowd is 30 or younger and ACL attracts a wider age range who may not be familiar with/appreciate The Arcade Fire.) Still though. One of the best, if not THE best, performances I've seen in a long long time.

Bottom line: Bjork-thumbs down; The Arcade Fire-yyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeesssssssss!

Anonymous said...

Well, Bjork is a headliner. Deal with it, oh well...there will be bands you want to see and bands you don't want to see, but she will be there.

I love Arcade Fire and am anticipating seeing them again as well, but they've also already played ACL. Honestly I would rather new bands (such as Bjork, etc.) hit up the festival and let those bands that have already been around prior years to drop by Austin to play a full set another time. Makes more sense to me. As I see it ACL is a festival to enjoy music that you listen to and see bands that you've never seen before as well as be opened up to new bands that you may not have gone and seen or listened to before. Why not welcome a different act that has yet to play ACL?

Anonymous said...

I'll throw in a couple of cents here. Bjork is a great addition -- she's never been here and clearly won't be the Sunday headliner, so you'll have a choice of someone else if you don't like her. Arcade Fire was great two years ago, and I'm glad they'll (likely) be coming back, but that's a show to skip too if you were at ACL two years ago. Coachella is so passe.

Anonymous said...

Bjork is a fucking dumb cunt and her music is god damned bullshit. I love all of the weak ass ACL apologists that come on here and act like the festival can do no wrong and every artist on the lineup is amazing. Get Attal's dick out of your mouths, faggots.

Anonymous said...

^ Someone didn't get enough candy as a kid.

Anonymous said...

And this is your way of making your case? I am sure everybody is impressed with your innovative use of curse words and slurs.

I don't think anybody made the case that Attal and Co, can do no wrong. I don't see any post that praised every band on the list.

My view is that there is no right or wrong in this deal. Just some fun speculation and debate. ACL is a good thing, we are fortunate to have it, and thinking otherwise is really missing the big picture. Would you rather there not be an ACL for you to bitch about.

If your enjoyment and viewpoint of the festival is dependent on the presence of "insert band", go see them when they play their own show, it will happen sooner or later. If some act that you don't like is on the bill, go check out another stage, go eat, drink, go home, or go catch an aftershow.

Part of the fun of festivals is getting to see bands you would never see when left to your devices.

Anonymous said...

And I love sackless trolls who post stupid, juvenile rants under anonymous. Yes, liking one act out of 130 is saying that ACL can do no wrong. Nice fallacious argument there, I'm sure there's a Bush cabinet position just waiting for you. Actually, there are tons of acts that have played ACL I've hated... Pat Green, Blue October, Dashboard Confessional (??!!), the list is pretty long. That's the point of a festival, there's something for everyone. And trying to get people riled up by throwing around 5th grade curse words isn't helping your cause. Hell, I'm not even sure what your cause is.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, will.
I can't wait until tomorrow at midnight for all of this to end :D

Anonymous said...

"And trying to get people riled up by throwing around 5th grade curse words isn't helping your cause."

I'm not TRYING to get people riled up, I AM getting people riled up. It's hilarious to watch you idiots continue to respond to my ridiculously over the top posts. Keep it up. I'm glad I'm having such an affect on you.

Anonymous said...

I think you are confusing "getting people riled up" with "having everybody think you are idiot"

Anonymous said...

Who's getting riled up? The only frantic posts have been yours. Your posts have been so childish and amatuerish that it's kind of hard to get worked up over them. They haven't had any "affect" at all. They haven't had any "effect" either.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, no "effect" whatsoever. That's why there are so many responses to my "frantic" posts. ;)
But keep it up, I'm loving every minute of it.

Oh, wow! So your goal was to say something stupid and then have people tell you it was stupid. That's brilliant! And now I'm responding again! Dammit, you evil genius! We're all under total control now, and the more we talk about it the more he wins! Curses!

Midnight can't come soon enough.

California gangster-style, you know what I mean? Kick ass pool party thing.
